Crystal
Crystal is a highly qualified Yoga Teacher who, over 14 years of practice, has developed her own unique Yoga style she calls Intuitive Flow - an intuitive-led movement practice which supports a deep connection within your body. This style is a combination of Ashtanga yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Embodied Flow and Anusara.
Crystal discovered her yoga practice in her 20s at a time when she felt “lost”, a sense of disconnection and a desire to find deeper meaning in life. She embarked on a 7 day silent retreat in Bali which led to her towards her Yoga practice. In Yoga, Crystal uncovered much wisdom, grounding and a reconnection to life that led her towards becoming a Yoga instructor to teach others. In 2010 she travelled to Rishikesh, India, to complete her 200hr yoga teacher training with Tribe Yoga.
Crystal’s yoga style is an inquiry-based, embodied movement practice that is designed to guide participants to greater body awareness. This supports students to honour their needs and embrace imperfections to provide an opportunity to nurture, empower and find a space of peace in the fast paced demands of current life.
Crystals Rest and Restore practice includes
Journaling - a powerful tool to release stress, release emotions and thoughts
Walking in nature, particularly a forest/wooded area. Just walking and taking in all the sights, sounds and smells without technology - a great reset!
Swimming in natural pools of water allows her to feel powerfully present in her body, grounded and connected.
Painting with the therapeutical and magical qualities of watercolours. Crystal enjoys the connection between herself and the subject and her tools and enters a flow state easily whilst painting, losing herself in the landscape of colour.
Cooking and a great enjoyment in good food, new recipes and the joy of trying them out. Cooking takes Crystal out of her thinking, ruminating mind to create something nourishing to fuel her whole family.
What is Flow/Intuitive Yoga?
This is an immersive, intuitive-led movement practice guiding students toward a deeper sense of being present within their bodies, often known as embodiment. Crystal’s style is invitational, and gently guides you into the observation of the movement and the body. Our nervous system provides feedback and we gain a sense of how our bodies move across the earth in the present moment. This allows a deeper understanding to be experienced and provides the opportunity to strengthen the relationship with our bodies.
A typical arc of a Crystal’s class will always begin with a grounding exercise, followed by slow intentional warm ups, peaking into stronger flows which are always invitational, providing options of less intensity. The closing component of a class begins with a long, soothing restorative sequence and final savasana (rest pose). A yoga session with Crystal is a deeply meditative low state where you will be enveloped in your breath and body and emerge feeling clearer, spacious and grounded.
Crystal’s Yoga classes have a multitude of health benefits including
Autonomic nervous system regulation through many postures and breath exercises
Lowering Chronic Stress
Increasing relaxation by training our nervous systems to remember
Regaining a lost connection to our bodies by listening to and attuning towards ourselves during postures and breath engagement
Increasing a sense of wellbeing, health, relaxation and wholeness.
