What is Qi Gong?

Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice for cultivating, balancing, and encouraging the smooth flow of energy throughout the body. It supports the four pillars of well-being, namely, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, by offering an opportunity to slow down and redirect reactions to stressful factors providing deeper circulation and reserves of life giving energy. Due to its gentle nature it is an excellent modality to introduce within a retreat setting regardless of age and mobility, as all practices may be done sitting or standing.

Qi Gong uses gentle and simple movement, meditation and mindfulness practice, along with breath work to support the following

  • Improving Mobility

  • Reducing Stress via the Autonomic Nervous System, engaging in “rest and digest” regulation after busy days and nights.

  • Reducing Muscle Tension and Tightness by increasing the flow of energy

  • Improving Mental and Emotional states as movements are designed to support the gentle release of unwanted emotions and cultivate more beneficial emotional states for our wellbeing.
